UI/UX DESIGN

UI and UX have been a consistent part of my career for over a decade. From designing EPOS systems for Scottish Canals to structuring the flow of data through DAR (dashboard, analysis & reporting) applications used by Calibrate Consulting. Balancing simple & efficient usability with an interesting design has always been something that I strive for in my work.

As most client work is confidential, below are examples of UX samples from school projects & personal projects:

★ PLNR – A PRODUCTIVITY AID

Design Tool : Figma

★ PLNR is an app solution to task management and achieving personal goals. Both a desktop and mobile design has been created – with unique strengths & uses identified for both platforms by the opposing needs of those participating in the user study.

The default mobile view aims to streamline the overhead of interactions, as if to perform like a simple checklist. When checking priorities throughout the day, it’s ideal to keep an interface as efficient as possible - with short glances & quick interactions being sufficient to gain a helpful overview.

On the other hand, the default desktop view features long-term analysis across daily, weekly, monthly & annual resolutions. This allows users to track their goals over time to identify any changes in habit and compare progress against larger milestones. Through goal categorization, it’s easy for a user to see where most of their time is being spent (and otherwise) to adjust focus as they see fit.

Below is part of an example high-fidelity task flow: the user adds a new goal to the mobile application. More examples can be seen in the Case Study.

HIGH-FIDELITY WIREFRAMES

The following personas were identified as the major archetypes from the demographics results. A diverse group of participants were interviewed as part of the research plan, and as such the app aims to satisfy this range of needs - from ease of use to technical customizations.

Below is an example of a task flow as it would appear on a target device. Here the user adds a new classification of goal type using the mobile version of the application.
